During strenght training of the abdominals, lumbar spine suffers great loadings. Depending
on the complete body position and its segments, those loadings often go above the
tolerance of the lumbar spine soft tissues. In order to properly strenghten the abdominal
musculature, and having considered training requirements, as well as preventive ones, it is
necessary to completely eliminate exercises which are harmful to the lumbar posture, sport
performances and sport achievement.
Abdominal muscles strenght development is important in most of the sport disciplines,
but we must have scientifical approach on this matter. Some of the exercises for
abdominal strenght development, which produce minimal loading to the lumbar spine will
be presented in this article lumbar spine, posture, abdominal muscles strenght development, proper
performance.
