The parameters of craniofacial system represent a signifi cant indicator in
evaluation of primary schoolchildrens’ physical growth and development. By comparing
them with existing craniofacial norms it is posible to notice certain irregularities and
deviations on time. The research was carried out with the aim of determining whether
there are the differences in craniofacial status between fi fth grade primary schoolgirls
and schoolboys in Nis. The sample of examinees consisted of 160 pupils (80 female and
80 male pupils) 10 to 11 years of age. The craniofacial status was estimated according to
set of 10 variables (head circumference, neck circumference, head width, morphological
face height, face width, nose length, nose width, mandibula width, ear length and
mouth width). The anthropometric measurements were accomplished by author himself
according to International Biological Programme. The differences between female and
male examinees in the area examined were established according to t-test on univariate
level, and according to canonical discriminative analysis on multivariate level. The
results of the research have shown that there are differences in head dimensions between
fi fth grade female and male pupils and they are at statistically signifi cant level. head diameters, differences, primary schoolchildren
