Beginning symptoms of suprascapular neuropathy are unnoticeable, and concerns
the dominant arm of volleyball players at spiker positions. Atrophy of the supra and infraspinatus
muscles is visible, but is usually noticed by accident. Clinical examination is
used to determine mobility of the shoulder with the attention to abduction at 90 degrees
and maximum external rotation. In this study, none of the players complained about the
pain, loss of function or reduced efficiency during the actual volleyball game even though
the electro-diagnostic procedures and clinical examination verified suprascapular neuropathy
and ensuing atrophy of supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles. suprascapular neuropathy; infraspinatus muscle; volleyball; shoulder
